The Development Department, through its various activities, plays an important role in local economic development. It is responsible for land acquisition and land disposal, for the provision of industrial and commercial sites including neighbourhood shops, for the sale of sites within the Integrated Area Plans (Urban Renewal Scheme 1999), for the management of the Council’s property portfolio, and for the control of derelict sites and dangerous structures and places.
The Council supports the extension of commercial and business development both indirectly by providing essential infrastructure and services, and directly by the provision of industrial lands.
This Department continues to liaise with the business community in South Dublin, including the Chamber of Commerce, local development groups, individuals and companies, in the promotion of South Dublin and facilitating economic development throughout the County.
Development Department also promotes the potential of South Dublin (in co-operation with other Departments) for Tourism, Arts/Culture, Sports and Leisure and Urban and Village initiatives.Contact Economic Development
